VIDEO TRANSFER - VIDEO TO DVD
DVDs prepared for Lab customers are normally limited to a program length of up
to 1 hour or up to 2 hours since the visual quality obtained at those speeds are
from Very Good to Excellent as long as the original video is of a high quality to
begin with. Of course,
Any DVD disk, created at the request of the customer, in an “Extended Play”
mode will not be guaranteed for the highest visual quality since these settings
inherently record at progressively inferior quality levels. The problem gets even
worse when the original program had been taped in “LP” or “EP” since the original
would also be in a poor quality signal.
In general, programs on a disk copy made from a good quality original will
decrease in quality as follows:
Up to 1hr – Excellent, up to 2hr-Very Good to Excellent, up to 4 hr-Fair to Good
and beyond 4 hr-Poor to Fair.
With that understanding, compilation DVDs of up to 8 hrs duration can be created
for the following prices:
Unedited DVD Copies (DVD disk included) of Personal Home Video, Non-
Copyrighted Video or Video for which permission to copy has been obtained from
the legal Copyright holder:
$15.00 per 1st DVD disk for programs up to 1 hour in length and $10.00 per
identical copy disk
$20.00 per 1st DVD disk for programs up to 2 hours in length and $15.00 per
identical copy disk
$30.00 per 1st DVD disk for programs up to 4 hours in length and $20.00 per
identical copy disk
$40.00 per 1st DVD disk for programs up to 6 hours in length and $30.00 per
identical copy disk
In addition to the above prices, a $ 2.00 handling fee is charged for each
"Compile-Stop" in a “Chapterized” DVD copy project. That is a stop to change the
original program for the purpose of creating a new “chapter” for a compilation of
several original programs onto a single DVD disk. Although a DVD disk can
contain up to 8 hours of program material, the more content placed onto a single
disk will inherently result in progressively poorer visual quality, especially if the
original program was taped in the “extended play” mode and is of poor visual
quality itself.
For DVD creation activities not categorized above, the standard shop rate of
$80.00 per hour, with a ½ hour minimum, will apply to custom DVD projects.
Sales Tax applies to all purchases at the rate of 8-1/4% for business conducted in
Contra Costa County, CA.
